Join us on four Wednesday mornings for The Art of Being Human, Shambhala Training 1. Usually offered as a weekend program, we are delighted to offer The Art of Being Human over a series of four mornings.

The Art of Being Human explores the view that human beings, at the core, are fundamentally awake. Through training in meditation we learn to let go of habitual patterns, drop our attachment to how things “should” be, and begin to truly appreciate things as they are. Wakefulness is not about escaping the world we live in but rather it is about entering our lives more fully. This begins with taking time to learn how to appreciate our true humanity — our sense perceptions, our feelings, and yes, even our minds.

The Art of Being Human provides students with basic instruction for sitting and walking meditation as a means to develop mindfulness in daily life. Senior Shambhala Teacher Jil Amadio will incorporate these themes and topics into the morning talks and provide instructions for basic mindfulness-awareness meditation practice including working with posture, the breath and relating to thoughts.

The Art of Being Human course includes:

• Guided meditation practice
• Mindfulness meditation talks
• One-on-one meditation instruction
• Weekend mini-retreat with the greater community on the concluding Sunday

There is no prerequisite. Everyone welcome.
