How did one person forever change the world's understanding of contemplative practice?

This course offers a deep dive into the Four Noble Truths, the core Buddhist teaching on the nature of suffering, its causes, and the path to liberation.

Through guided meditation, reflection, and discussion, participants will learn practical tools for understanding the nature of their own experiences—whether anxiety, fear, or confusion—and how to find liberation within them.

This course serves as a foundation for those curious about Buddhism and for those preparing to engage in deeper study or retreat practice. Participants will leave with a strong understanding of key Buddhist principles and a grounding in meditation practice.

Delivery Format: In-person and online via zoom. Regular attendance is encouraged, but classes will be recorded in the event you are unable to make one.

This course is also an entry point to further courses within the Buddhist Study Sequence. These lay the ground for the Mahayana teachings that bridge into the Vajrayana path. Completion of all courses within the sequence will fulfill one of the prerequisites for advanced study, including the 2025 Three Yanas Retreat.

If you have questions about this path, please speak with your meditation instructor or our Practice and Education team at [email protected] ATTN: Buddhist Studies.
